Irvine, CA – The Irvine Police Department (IPD) has arrested four suspects for stealing 17 iPads from an Irvine Target as part of a crime spree spanning three states and hitting 20 California retail locations. The suspects include Isaiah Woods, 21, Sun Valley, Vernon Hill, 20, Ethrata, WA, Victory Rogers, 25, Southwestern Burien, WA, and a male juvenile. They were arrested on charges of commercial burglary, grand theft, conspiracy to commit a crime, and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. They are being held without bail.
At approximately 4:20 p.m. on July 7, 2015, the three male suspects entered the Target store at Irvine Spectrum and engaged a sales representative in a discussion about iPads. One suspect asked to see an iPad from a locked case, and the employee opened the door to remove the requested item. The three suspects then reached into the case and stole 17 iPads before fleeing the scene through an emergency exit into a waiting vehicle, driven by the female suspect.
IPD detectives obtained surveillance footage of the incident and a detailed description from witnesses of the Hyundai Sonata used as the get-away vehicle.
IPD conducted an extensive investigation and on the afternoon of July 8, 2015, located the four suspects outside of a Best Buy in Moreno Valley in the same vehicle involved in the Irvine crime. All four suspects were arrested without incident.
As a result of the investigation, it was determined that the four suspects have committed 20 similar crimes across the State of California, from Lathrop to San Diego, and over a dozen crimes in the States of Oregon and Washington. The thefts of iPads and other electronics occurred in Target, Walmart, and Best Buys retailers.
IPD investigated this case in close partnership with the Ventura Police Department and Los Angeles Police Department. Special thanks to Target special investigators and Walmart loss prevention for their cooperation and assistance in this investigation.
