Man Arrested for Carjacking and Domestic Violence

Irvine, CA – A man was arrested by the Irvine Police Department (IPD) for domestic violence and carjacking the victim following the assault. Tarrin Joseph Rippel, 29, is in custody at the Orange County Jail.

At approximately 7:00 p.m. on July 14, 2015, the suspect was driving in the area of Alton Parkway and Jeffrey Road with a female victim, with whom he had a dating relationship. Rippel and the victim had a verbal argument, and the suspect punched the victim and then forced her out of her car. The suspect then fled the scene in the victim's vehicle.

The Irvine Police Department (IPD) responded to the scene and located the victim and witnesses. The victim sustained a bloody nose, cut above her eye, bruising, and a black eye in the domestic violence incident. She was transported to an area hospital for treatment.   

IPD detectives began investigating the case and determined that the suspect, who is transient, may be in the City of Cypress. The Cypress Police Department provided assistance in this case and located the victim’s stolen vehicle in a residential neighborhood in Cypress on the morning of July 15, 2015.  

At approximately 1:00 p.m. on July 15, 2015, IPD detectives responded to the area and observed the suspect exit a residence and get into the driver’s seat of the stolen car. He was arrested at the scene without incident.
