Irvine, CA – A man has been arrested for entering a hospital dressed in scrubs with the intent to steal valuable surgical equipment. The suspect is identified as Roy Chiwing Lung, 48, of Aliso Viejo. Lung is a former medical doctor who had his medical license revoked by the California Medical Board.
At approximately 4:40 a.m. on Aug. 30, 2015, Lung entered Kaiser Hospital in Irvine wearing scrubs and a wig in an attempt to disguise himself as an employee. Once inside, the suspect stole numerous expensive surgical supplies valued at over $25,000.
The suspect was observed by a diligent hospital employee attempting leave the building and was detained by hospital security. The Irvine Police Department (IPD) responded to the scene and found Lung in possession of a duffle bag containing multiple burglary tools, including keys similar to those carried by hospital employees.
Additional wigs, keys, and scrubs from other hospitals were located in the suspect’s car.
