Irvine, CA – The Irvine Police Department (IPD) has arrested two juvenile suspects for assaulting multiple victims using a BB gun. The suspects, a 16 and 17-year-old male, were arrested Feb. 4, 2016, for assault with a deadly weapon.  The identities of the suspects are not being released because they are minors.

At approximately 7:30 p.m. on Jan. 21, 2016, the suspects were driving in the area of Alton Parkway and Creek Road. The suspects observed two 18-year-old males skateboarding in the park and shot at them using a BB gun. One victim was hit in the leg and the other victim’s parked car was hit.

The suspects continued driving into a nearby shopping center at Barranca Parkway and Creek Road, where they again shot at two teenagers on skateboards. One victim was struck in the face and in the body. The other teen was uninjured.

The suspects then drove to the area of Jeffrey Road and Roosevelt, where they shot the BB gun at a couple in their 60s who were out for a walk. The male victim was hit multiple times in the body. The female was physically unharmed.

All of the victims in this case sustained injuries including bleeding, bruising, and redness.

The cases were reported to IPD, who investigated the incidents and identified and arrested the suspects.

BB guns are often physically indistinguishable in appearance from traditional firearms or handguns. The shots are powered by compressed air cartridges instead of gunpowder and use metal balls instead of bullets. BB guns used against people or animals can cause serious bodily injury and can result in costly damages when used against property.

Anyone with additional information in this case is asked to contact IPD Detective Matt Ricci at 949-724-7189.
