Hiromi Takizawa: Flora and Fauna
Reception: Saturday, February 21, 4-6 p.m.
Exhibition: February 21-April 18, 2015

Glass artist Hiromi Takizawa creates quiet, meditative installations inspired by the environment of her native region in the mountainside of Nagano, Japan. Utilizing glass, light, water, sound and plants, Takizawa explores natural phenomena that surrounded her during her formative years. Takizawa’s work captivates with its pensive nature and nostalgia for a place left behind.

Hiromi Takizawa was born in Japan and relocated to the United States in 2002. She holds a Master of Fine Arts degree in Craft and Materials Studies from Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond and a Master of Arts degree in Glass from California State University, Fullerton. She has taught glass at Saddleback College; California State University, San Bernardino; Alfred University, New York; and Pilchuck Glass School in Stanwood, Washington. Her work has been exhibited at the Heller Gallery in New York, RAID Projects in Los Angeles, 12 Galleri og Verksted in Norway and Ohio State University in Columbus. Takizawa currently lives and works in Santa Ana, California.
