The Community Services Outreach Department coordinates nursing, therapy, and assistance to homebound or health impaired citizens who are not able to leave home without assistance or are prescribed a skilled nursing or physical therapy service by their physician. Some of the many services available include:
Social visitations to homebound residents by staff and volunteers who are also trained to observe and report signs that a citizen may need assistance;
Meals on Wheels programs that deliver hot meals 5 days a week at home for a small fee;
Protection services through security watches and protective shelters that shield senior citizens from the danger of abuse, neglect, or exploitation;
Home health nursing aides who can assist with medication, treatments, baths, grooming care, bed transfer and other nursing aide duties, as well as handle light housekeeping, shopping and meal preparation;
Physical therapists who can provide physician-directed therapy and care to patients who cannot reach a hospital or medical center
Fees for these services vary and are determined by income. Medicare, Medicaid, and insurance programs may pay for these services, which recipients and their families can request.
