Pet Trek Fundraiser

9/2/2010

Calling all animal lovers. Grab your walking shoes and your canine companion for the Irvine Animal Care Center's 9th Annual Pet Trek fundraiser on Saturday, September 25 from 8 a.m.-1 p.m. at Woodbridge Community Park in Irvine.

Sponsored by Hill’s Science Diet and Jack FM, the walkathon features three different routes for varying canine and owner fitness levels, pet related vendors, a silent auction, food booths, demonstrations, contests and prizes for top pledge earners.

Money raised from the event will help pay for major surgeries, purchase special bedding and supplies for arthritic and nursing animals, and provide for care of Third Chance animals, which are rescued from overcrowded shelters throughout Southern California.

Registration is $35 per individual and $50 per family. Pre-register before September 10 to save $10 and receive an event T-shirt and raffle ticket. All walkers will receive a goody bag. Pledge forms are available online at irvineshelter.org. For additional event information, call 949-724-7740.

The Animal Care Center is open weekdays from noon-7 p.m., weekends from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. and closed Tuesdays and holidays. The five-acre facility, located at 6443 Oak Canyon, features four kennels, a farmyard enclosure, a veterinary clinic, and 10 outdoor play yards. The shelter’s 36 staff members and more than 500 volunteers provide each animal with the necessary care, socialization and affection it needs to become a great pet.
