“Home for the Holidays” Pet Adoption Fair

11/7/2011

The Irvine Animal Care Center is sponsoring "Home for the Holidays," a pet adoption fair on Saturday, December 3 from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. More than 400 homeless animals will be available for adoption from private rescue organizations and shelters across Southern California. This annual event features pet and human related vendors, food, a silent auction, raffle, bake sale and “Ask the Vet” and “Ask the Trainer” booths.

Recognized nationwide as one of the most progressive municipal shelters in the country, the Center is home to approximately 250 animals awaiting their holiday gift – a loving family and a new home. Every cat and dog offered for adoption during the “Home for the Holidays” event is vaccinated, spayed or neutered, micro chipped and has had a medical evaluation.

The Animal care Center is open weekdays from noon-7 p.m., weekends from 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. and closed Tuesdays and holidays. The 3.73 acre facility, located at 6443 Oak Canyon, Irvine, is home to four kennels, a farmyard enclosure, a veterinary clinic, and 10 outdoor play yards. The shelter's 39 staff members and more than 300 volunteers give every animal the care, socialization and affection it needs to become a great pet.

Admission is $1. Parking is free. Proceeds from the event will help the Shelter continue to provide care and support services for homeless animals. For more information, call 949-724-7740 or visit the Center's website at irvineshelter.org.
