Irvine Explorer Andrew Raunau received an award for his leadership qualities. Raunau has been an Irvine Police Explorer for over a year. In addition to his nearly 100% participation in Explorer Post activities, Explorer Raunau has participated in the Academic Decathlon and Mock Trial programs at his high school. And, in his spare time, he created a program called, “Mission for Vision” which collects clothing and eyewear for those in need. Nominated by his advisors for his positive attitude and friendly, professional demeanor, Explorer Raunau often is referred to as the unofficial Public Relations Liaison for the Post. In 1994 he was sworn in as a Laguna Beach Police Officer where he worked for more than 12 years before transferring to the Irvine Police Department in 2005. Sergeant August continued his commitment to the Explorer program, becoming and advisor for the Irvine Police Explorer Post over three years ago. Sergeant August put his innovation, experience and professionalism to work not only with the Irvine program, but also as a member of the tactical staff for several classes at the County Explorer Academy. Although Sergeant August left the Post upon his promotion, he continues to support the program and volunteers, providing training and other support for program activities.
