Two New Police Officers Sworn In

On Monday, June 4, 2012, Chief Maggard swore in two new officers to the Irvine Police Department, Officers Joshua Balos and Bradley Boyer.  The ceremony took place in the Emergency Operations Center and was attended by friends, relatives, members of the Irvine Police Department, and two members of the training staff from the Orange County Sheriff’s Academy.

Officer Balos joins Irvine after serving six years as a Riverside County Deputy Sheriff.  Originally a graduate of Ben Clark Academy Class #166 in Riverside, Balos has worked in jail operations, as a patrol officer, field training officer and most recently as a school resource officer.  During his assignment as a School Resource Officer with the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, he was recognized multiple times for his dedication to service including recognition from the individual schools, the Lake Elsinore Unified School District and the Riverside County Office of Education. Officer Balos has two Associate of Arts degrees from Mount San Jacinto College, one in Social and Behavioral Science and the other in Administration of Justice.

Officer Boyer graduated from the Orange County Sheriff’s Academy Class #200 last week and previously worked as an Explorer with the Roseville, Police Department, as probation intern with the City of Los Angeles and a police jailer with the Covina Police Department.  He received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Behavioral Science from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona in 2011 and is also a certified EMT (Emergency Medical Technician).
