Home for the Holidays Pet Adoption Fair

10/12/2013

The City of Irvine Animal Care Center will host the 7th annual Home for the Holidays pet adoption fair on Sunday, December 8 from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. More than 500 homeless animals will be available for adoption from rescue organizations and shelters including dogs, cats, rabbits and guinea pigs.

The annual event features dozens of vendors, gourmet food trucks, a silent auction, low-cost micro-chipping and an opportunity drawing. Each animal available for adoption is spayed or neutered, micro-chipped and evaluated by a veterinarian. Cats and dogs are vaccinated.

Admission is $1. Parking is free. Leashed dogs are welcome. Sponsored by PetSmart, the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, Canvas Pet and Subaru. The event’s proceeds benefit the Animal Care Center and its efforts to provide care and support to thousands of homeless, neglected and abused animals each year.

Items currently needed are: food dispensing toys, soft treats, training harnesses and collars, leashes, fleece blankets, kitten nursing bottles and nipples, KMR milk replacement formula and toys. A complete “wish list” of items is available on the Center’s website, plus a gift registry of needed items is available on Amazon.com and Target.com under “Irvine Shelter.” All donations are tax deductible.

Donations may be dropped off at the Irvine Animal Care Center, located at 6443 Oak Canyon, Irvine. For more information, call 949-724-7741 or visit irvineshelter.org.
