Rio de Irvine – Masquerade Madness

9/20/2005

The City of Irvine Senior Services Division will host Rio de Irvine – Masquerade Madness, a casino night fundraiser on Saturday, September 24 from 5 – 10 p.m. at the Lakeview Senior Center in Irvine. The event will feature live entertainment, Vegas-style gaming, dinner, a silent auction, and a variety of raffle prizes donated by local businesses. The event is sponsored by the Atria Senior Living Group in Woodridge of Irvine.

Advanced tickets will be available for purchase beginning Monday, August 29. The pre-sale ticket price is $30 per person, or tickets can be purchased on the night of the event for $35. Event admission includes entertainment, dinner, $100 in script for Vegas-style gaming, and one raffle ticket. This event is open to adults age 21 and over.

Proceeds from the fundraiser will help ensure the continued growth and success of the Lakeview Senior Center Computer Lab, which offers Internet access and reduced cost computer classes to adults age 21 and older. A team of retired computer professionals and experienced computer users volunteer time to provide a hands-on learning environment for those who visit the Computer Lab during the week. Digital camera and other photography classes are also offered through the Lab.

“Providing resources to help individuals of all ages stay connected is essential in today’s busy society,” said Irvine Mayor Beth Krom. “The Lakeview Senior Center Computer Lab matches tech-savvy seniors and other volunteers with community members who wish to use the Lab.” Mayor Krom continues, “I am proud of the efforts we make as a community to support the needs of residents, especially our senior population, in ways which bring a wealth of knowledge and friendship to our citizens.”

Tickets can be purchased by cash or credit card in person at the Lakeview Senior Center, located at 20 Lake Road in Irvine, or by calling (949) 724-6900. For information on sponsorship and donation opportunities, please contact Patty Koss at (949) 724-6912.
