2 Irvine Artists at the Irvine Fine Arts Center

9/10/2007

Irvine Fine Arts Center presents The Unexpected Vistas of Irvine, a collection of nearly 100 plein air oil paintings capturing Irvine’s beautiful and sometimes unexpected landscapes by local artist Tom Brown. For more than 20 years, Irvine has served as the inspiration for Brown’s impressionist style-paintings, combining the "old and new" into a seamless tapestry of Irvine history.

In conjunction with The Unexpected Vistas of Irvine, the Fine Arts Center is also pleased to highlight the beauty of everyday life as seen through the black and white photography of Irvine artist Frank Cancian in his exhibition, While Waiting. A sociocultural anthropology professor for over 20 years at UCI, Cancian is a documentary photographer whose work embodies the ordinary situations of everyday life.

Both exhibitions open with a special reception on Friday, September 14 from 5:30-8 p.m at the Fine Arts Center, located at 14321 Yale Avenue, Irvine. Gallery admission and reception are free to the public. For more information, call 949-724-6880 or visit http://legacy.cityofirvine.org/depts/cs/finearts/exhibitions/current_exhibitions/default.asp
