Child Care Speaker's Event

11/13/2007

The Irvine Child Care Committee, in partnership with the University of Irvine and Mariners Church, presents "Last Child in the Woods" a seminar presented by Richard Louv, author of the bestselling book "Last Child in the Woods: Saving Our Children From Nature-Deficit Disorder," will give a talk at Mariners Church, located at 5001 Newport Coast Drive, Irvine on Thursday, October 15 at 7pm.  The event is presented by The Irvine Child Care Committee.

Admission is $15 per person presale and $20 at the door. For more information or to purchase tickets, call 949-824-2100 or visit www.IrvineQuickReg.org

Described by The Boston Globe as "a must-read for parents," "Last Child in the Woods" reveals the importance of "healing the broken bond between our young and nature."  Louv's thesis is that our increasingly indoor, sedentary culture has led to a tremendous increase in ailments such as obesity, diabetes, attention disorders and depression in young people.  He presents workable solutions to get children back outdoors, active and interested in the natural world around them.
