The City of Irvine appreciates the service of the following honoree:

Don Dressler
Distinguished Citizen
Don is a 38-year resident of Irvine who has contributed significantly to the City. Don served on the Finance Commission for 18.5 years, 16 as chair. His chairmanship included oversight of the impact of the Orange County bankruptcy as well as working with the City of Irvine City Council and staff to maintain the City's reserve account. He helped establish the Irvine Investment Advisory Committee, the Irvine Unified School District Task Force for the Aquatic Center and Stadium, was a member of the Irvine Adult Day Health Care Advisory Group and the Barclay Theatre Evaluation Group. Twelve years ago he served on the task force to help bring about the Irvine Senior Center in Woodbridge. Don is an outstanding member of the Exchange Club of Irvine serving as the Event Chair since 2010 for the Irvine Police Department Awards Banquet. Don is the Endowment Chair of the University United Methodist Church, a position he has held for the past ten years; has given 18 years of service to American Youth Soccer Organization (AYSO) (1977-1995); 24 years serving the Boy Scouts in various positions; was Volunteer of the Year for his work for the American Cancer Society Irvine unit from 1991-1997; and has received numerous honors from non-profits and small business organizations for the many hours he has worked for them. He has quietly and humbly served his community for literally thousands of hours over four decades.
