Girl Scouts of Orange County
Nearly 25,000 Girl Scouts and 10,000 adult volunteers make up the Girl Scouts of Orange County. There are over 2,600 girls involved in Irvine programs. Girl Scouts (national) celebrates its 100th anniversary in 2012. Irvine troops have carried out many community service projects in just this past year including creating a school education program to battle childhood obesity, establishing a butterfly garden and promoting water conservation for Irvine Ranch Water District, planting trees in public parks and many more. Local partnerships include: Families Forward, Second Harvest Food Bank, Irvine Water District, Kids Who Care Foundation, Hoag Hospital in Irvine, Shadetree Nursery, UCI, Irvine Global Village, Irvine Animal Rescue Center, HOPE, Kids Who Care Club, AIDS Services Foundation, Monarch Healthcare, Meals on Wheels- Irvine, Woodbury Community Center, OC Fire Department and Irvine Police Department.
