|Military Memorial Recognition|
| ||Located in Colonel Bill Barber Marine Corps Memorial Park |
The City of Irvine takes pride in honoring Irvine's fallen service members and hometown heroes. These heroes will be forever remembered not only for their service to America, but for their roles in their families and their community.
Military Memorial plaques have been placed at the Flag Monument as a permanent tribute to their service. Below is the process for inclusion of an Irvine service member who has died in the line of duty.
Military Memorial Recognition Process
The Military Memorial is reserved for plaques, authorized by City Council, honoring those who died in the line of duty during military service.

Requests for inclusion on the Military Memorial may be submitted to the City of Irvine City Clerk in the form of a personal letter from the nominator, which shall include the nominator’s contact information and the proposed honoree’s name and service information.
Nominations may be submitted by, but are not limited to, the honoree’s family member, a member of the Irvine community, a local official, or someone from a non-profit organization or business with which the proposed honoree was affiliated. Members of the Irvine City Council may submit nominations to the City Council for consideration.
Nominees are now or have been an Irvine resident. A resident is defined as an individual who has lived, been employed, or been a student of a school within the City of Irvine.
Nominees included on the Military Memorial must have died in the line of duty serving the City, the State or the Nation.
Nomination letters meeting applicable criteria will be forwarded by City staff to the City Council for consideration.
Honorees will be recognized with placement of a permanent standardized 6” x 9” plaque that includes honoree name, service affiliation and date deceased.
Costs for purchase, placement and maintenance of plaques will be borne by the City in appreciation of the individual’s contributions.
