The City of Irvine will release periodic alerts with information about the Sand Canyon Undercrossing construction activity that may affect businesses and travelers.  Please note that every effort will be made to reduce the impact of construction on the surrounding area. Intermittent lane reductions may be required weekdays between 9 am and 3 pm. No detour will be required since at least one travel lane will remain open in each direction during these closures. Two travel lanes will remain open in each direction prior to 9 am and after 3 pm.










The speed limit on Sand Canyon has been reduced to 35 mph between Laguna Canyon Road and Marine Way for the duration of the project for the safety of the contractor’s personnel and the motoring public.

The Walnut Bike Trail reopened on May 29, 2015 with full access from Jeffrey Road to Sand Canyon Avenue.
