Operations Support Division

The Operations Support Division consists of a combination of sworn police officers and civilian law enforcement personnel who provide specialized support services to the Operations (Field Services) Division of the Irvine Police Department. The Operations Support Division reports to the Deputy Chief of Police and is split into three concentrations of public safety services:

EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT
TRAFFIC / SPECIAL EVENTS
COMMUNITY OUTREACH

The Emergency Management Bureau is responsible with coordinating the public safety emergency resources in the City of Irvine, and act as a liaison between city, state, county, and federal emergency services.

The Traffic / Special Events Bureau maintains communication with the schools regarding traffic and crossing guard matters, ensures traffic laws are adhered to through proactive traffic enforcement, investigates traffic collisions within the City, and provides permits for all special events that take place in the City.

The Community Outreach Bureau is the communication arm between the residents, businesses, and visitors in the City and the Irvine Police Department. The Irvine Police Department Drug Abuse Resistance and Education (D.A.R.E.) program, the Crime Prevention Unit, and the Business Community Officer program all support the Bureau's mission.
